how do you check point gap? with a feeler gauge? sorry if its a dumb question, i"m new at this but want to learn

I know I am going to get ripped on for this..... ..... but in an emergency you can use a matchbook cover to set point gap it works nicely.

Yeah, but be SURE there's no OIL on the feeler gauge, not EVEN a fingerprint.

Clean the feeler gauge B-4 use with a lint-free cloth. Electrical contact cleaner is GREAT, too, to remove any resudual oil from the feeler gauge.

ANY oil on the points will mess them up.

yes...a blade type is best for points.
