I was given a Craftsman 30" 13.5 hp mower. Turns out it's a Murry. The 13.5 was blown up. I put a 10hp on. I replaced the belts because it would barely move. I put the new belts on and went to the mail box and back. Belts seemed very hot and it's slow. (1) is the center piece on the the variable pulley supposed to be floppy loose.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only movement should be up and down on the center part of the variator, It should not be flopping around loose.

Thank you I'll look into the pulley and let you know how it turns out.
