12Hp Briggs Help Needed

I have a 12Hp Briggs industrial/commercial engine with a cast iron sleeve. The model # is 281707, type is # 0415, code # 90100331. I need a illustrated parts list of the break down of the engine. I found some on the Briggs site but it is in PDF file and I dont have Abode Reader to view it. I have dial up and it showed it would take 6 hours to download it. Can someone please change the file and send it to me, or have one they know they can send me. I am rebuilding the engine as a project at Fulton County Vocational school in Fulton County Kentucky. I need the list as soon as possible. Anybody that can help I would appreciate it very much, thank you.

Thank yall very much for helping me out. On part of the rebuild I am having to replace the govenor, is there anyway to explain how to set it on the computer? If not I will order a manual that shows how, im just short on time because I am doing this as a project at my Vocational School.

Follow the procedure below;

1. Loosen screw holding governor arm to governor crank.

2. Rotate throttle plate linkage from idle position to full throttle position. Note direction of rotation of the governor arm attached to the throttle linkage.

3. Place and hold the linkage in high speed position.

4. While holding the linkage in this position, Use a appropriate tool to rotate the governor shaft until it stops in the direction noted in step 2.

5. tighten screw holding governor lever to governor crank. Torque to 35-45 in. lbs. (2.8-5.0 NM).

6. Before starting engine, Manually actuate governor linkage to check for binding.

I raised the throttle plate to full throttle position. This pulled the governor arm backards. When the governor arm went backwards the governor crank went forward. I moved it forward(towards the cam shaft gear until it stopped) then tightened the screw, is this correct? Also is there a certain way the governor gear is supposed to be positioned? Thanks for the help.

That sounds like the correct way to set it, But put the throttle control back at idle position and move the governor arm with your finger and make sure it moves back and forth freely as step #6 out-lined.

And of course you are adjusting this governor with the engine fully assembled as needs to be correct ?

The governor gear will only go on one way, Just set it over the cam so the metal bracket lays flat on the cam gear then position the center pin on the gear so it aligns with the governor crank part reference #225 then install the pan/sump.

First I had the sump off because first I was told that my governor gear was bad, they didnt tell me there was a way to properly set the governor crank and arm to make it perform properly. After what you told me, I put the engine back together to properly set it by going through the steps you told me, thanks alot for all your help, and sorry to bother you with so many questions.
