My son was mowing yesterday and the drive pedal just stopped working (so he says) I got on the mower and it just flopped back and forth! The mower won't start or move so is it a belt? I looked in the manual but really could not tell what the problem might be. My Troy Bilt was purchased in 2002, Model #13CD609G063, 17.5 HP, 42" mowing deck. I am a single Mom and have ALWAYS worked on my own equipment, changed oil, filters and belts. I really didn't put it up on ramps yet and look underneath to see if anything was broken but before I do, would like to know if this has happened to anyone else.

Thanks for all your help!

Kelly

Hard to troubleshoot, but driveline on that unit is pretty simple,no gears as such,Drive pedal controls a long belt running to variator pulley under back corner of tractor. It operates a pr of idler pulleys under center of tractor.I would guess either belt has failed or jumped off a pulley.Second choice would be failure or disconnection of a tension spring at idlers or variator allowing belt to be slack.May be as simple as pedal linkage coming unhooked.Fortunately deck removal on this machine is very easy as where you need to get to is up underneath tractor.
