I have been trying to start a 129 for several days. Have put on a different coil, condenser and new plug. Cranking it over with the plug out it looks like maybe it doesn"t fire every time. Any help would be great. DN

I forgot to mention before that I had cleaned and checked the gap on the points also. I am using a coil off of a cub cadet. Thanks for the help. Any other ideas I will sure try them.

Like Joe said clean the points and regap at .20. Now you said it WAS fireing. I had a 149 that would not start but when you laid the plug on the head sheild it had spark. I tried a new plug and started right off. I use autolight 214 I think, off the top of my head so dont hold me to it. Now You might want to be sure you have a coil for a mower not a car. After the car coil fire and the eng runs it cuts the voltage back to 6 volts and your cub wont run right. That will burn your points. Also resand the back of the condensor to be sure you have a good ground, and the condensor is hooked on the neg side of the coil.

Let us know how you do or need anything else.

Check that points are clean and free of oil, grease & dirt and set to proper gap,if points pitted replace & regap.
