I don't know about everyone else and they were around for a long time, but I tried sickle mowing twice and it just didn't work out. Now a sickle bar on a swather (with pickup fingers and conditioner) is a horse of a different color cause the swather solves the biggest problems I have had with sickles (other than crawdad mounds).....lets see, hard to mount to tractor alone (this farm is a one man operation), cutter blade has to be new/nearly new to cut "field vegitation", easy to misguess end of cutter so it's always hung up on something (including overhead tree branches if you are going to or from the field in the stow position), if grass is wet it lodges in cutter and cutter starts skipping, in turning corners, the end of the cutter gets tangled up in pre cut material and just makes a big mess (unless you lift and lower it at each corner), usually deflection boards don't do a good enough job in moving material away for the next sweep (where the wobble box runs)and you get a big mess there that clogs the near end of the cutter, crawdad mounds are disasterous cloggers, and on and on. Hope you know what you're getting into if you find what you are asking for. Mark
