Roy,
I would look at your drive belt, If it has not been looked at for a while, probably is getting a little glazed and worn. Does it make any kind of howling noise when it slows down? Normally if it slows down and makes no noise, it is a slipping belt, if it is howling as it slows down, then you probably got some pump issues.

If it works better cold than hot, it would indicate worn parts in either the hydro pump or motor or both.

I would start by changing the oil and filter. (cheap try to fix)

If worse in reverse, the reverse speed is usually half or less of forward. So if half of forward is as bad as full reverse, again it sounds like worn parts. If half forward is better than full reverse, it might be trouble with the reverse relief valve, if it has one. Some do not have relief valves.

Do you have a method of allowing you to push tractor without engine running by depressing two by-pass valves? If so, make sure they are not partially depressed?
