Sears no longer offers voltage regulator on their parts site. Can I use a voltage regulator from a different tractor, or do I have to have an exact replacement?

You have a standard Delco Remy regulator that is not made for any one particular application. If you have any place around that is an actual auto parts or small enngine shop or starter rebuild shop, they can get you one for around $35.40.00. If you need any other help, let me know. Take your old one with you to get the correct mount and such. You might also take yours apart and clean the contacts.

You could try taking sears eng mod#,hp & eng mfg info to local dealer & have them crossref eng mfg to sears# and get mod#,type or spec# and lookup vr part # from there in parts list for eng,you might also try posting sears eng mod# here, maybe on of the guys has eng mfg to sears cross ref.If this is a Techumseh mod HH100 or HH120 eng,a lot of the Kohler vr's will work with same, the important thing is to get one with a current rateing equal to or higher than the old one & output rateing of alt on eng.
