The Garbage Truck dropped off a Simplicity Broodmoor Includes mowing deck and plow. Sheetmetal all there, but Rashy. Built in mid 60's. Currently using it as engine test stand.
Weird Front Axle, tie rods too close to pulley.

This tractor swivels in the rear, to match the
front axle. I'm considering using it to pull Lawn Tools, my recently aquired Bolens 1556 runs, the lawn needs attention, so it will be awhile, if ever, before doing anything.

Is this machine worth perserving for a future restorer ? The engine mount looks a bit hacked up, saw marks. Or should I scrap out the attachments, and use it to pull Lawn Tools ?

I have some hilly terrain, is there any real advantage to the swivel rear, or is it just a gimmick ? Would I be defacing history by altering it a bit ? [ Ask Gravely Owners about that one ! ]

Thanks for the advice, the design is no longer produced, or copied, which made me wonder if it made sense in the first place . I like the idea of traction. I'm using it as a stand for a Tecumseh 10 HP I'm repairing, I wonder ... ?

Have seen a couple vintage Broadmoors with Tec 10s.Depending on which Tec 10,it seems they fit just fine, except for needing to notch lower left edge of hood for aircleaner clearance.Might have a detail pic of this cut/mod,from a repower a couple yrs back.If I can find it,I'll post it.

That"pivoting"transaxle on the Simps really does make a difference. The idea is that unlike a solid frame tractor, both back wheels on the Simp stay stay firmly in contact with the ground reducing one side spin.Add wheel weights and/or Simp rear weight and you can push/pull loads that other tractors cannot.Great tractors for bladework, garden plowing and other high traction jobs.My 72 7hp weighted Broadmoor will outpull/push my 18hp GT in about any application due to the traction.Additionally Broadmoors can handle a wide range of attachments w/o issues. They were a true workhorse garden tractor, albeit not having a large engine.
-Note-If you do decide to part it,keep in mind the bevel gearbox(transaxle unit)is a valuable assembly to restorers/collectors and usually easily marketable. If restoring...used parts are readily available.
