I just aquired a generic Wheel Horse (gray) with what I am guessing to be an 11 HP B&S engine the engine runs good with no noises but has a wicked vibration. The first though in my mind was maybe a broken piston causing an out of balance situation I pulled the side cover off and discovered it has 2 balance shafts and from the looks of things it has been apart before and the shafts were not timed when it was put back together. Now my question does anyone know how to time the shafts to the engine I found the 2 small plugs in the cover that I assume are to pin the counterweights in place, but am not sure where to set the engine should I line up the marks for the camshaft and crankshaft or is there another mark I need to be looking for?

You probably need to get a copy of a service manual that covers your counterbalance gears timing. Here's one on my 14 hp B&S engine. Hal
