I wish to install dual rear wheels on my Case 446 Garden Tractor. Does anybody know of a way to do this? Any ideas on why it should not be done? Thanks
Dave

Thick walled, white PVC pipe comes in 12" dia and often fits inside the rims of the rear wheels, a 4-5" length, (cut straight with a fine toothed jig saw) should fit nicely, then use 12" pieces of 1/2 inch threaded rod for the connecting bolts. Check with a well driller, they may have some pieces, should only be $2-3 per foot, they may even cut it for you. Works very nicely. Read this in a discussion board note a year ago. Good Luck!

There are 2 ways to mount a dual. One is to have a hub adapter. The easier way is to have a ring that fits just inside the rim. The ring would be about 3 or 4 inches wide and holds the two tires apart. To mount this tire just bolt the two rims together with some pieces of all thread. There should be 4 holes in each rime to do this with. They would be the same holes that you would mount weights to the rim with.

The only reason you wouldn't mount duals to a tractor would be if the axle wasn't heavy enough to carry the added leverage applied by the dual.

Good luck,
Bob
