Would any one here know anything about the Massy buy out of white combines? I have a 9720 with MF decals on the side but White farm equipment serial # tag and decal in the cab. There is a black decal over where the WFE decals in the side would have been. The pervious owners indicate it was like this from new. I have heard that MF redecaled some combines in the factory and made a advertizement out of it??? Thanks for any help.

When Massey bought the White combine line in '85 or '86, they just redecaled the machines that were already assembled. The smaller rotary (9320) they redecaled as the 8560, which they continued to manufacture whithout changes until the 8560 became the 8570. On the 9720, it seems they just slapped the MF decals on until the original production was used up then they put the 8590 decals on.I think the reason for that was the 9320 was just coming down the line for the fist time, and the 9720 was already in production with quite a few machines already built. There is a great article in Oliver Heritage no. 4 about the White/massey rotaries.

By the way, nice looking 9720. I run a 1986 8560, it's all White Farm thru and thru, I even have the transmission out of my old Oliver 7600 in it.

Good grief. What happened to your Oliver 7600?

The 7600 was parked when I went to the 8600, then to a 8700. I parted out the 7600 over the years for my own use and also bought an 8600 parts machine because every White combine guy in the area whose combines I had worked on over the years kept running me out of used parts. All thats left of the 7600 is a couple final drives which will work on my 8560.

Hey there. Have any need for 2 more final drives from a 7600? I also have a good hydrostat in mine that I'd like to sell. I believe it originally came from an 8600 and was retrofitted to mine to replace the variable speed belt unit. If interested, please let me know and I'll make you a good deal.
