I just got hold of a one row new idea corn picker, unsure of the year or model, everything has been painted twice, its green. The previous owner has not used it for three years. He stated it worked real well when last used. I hooked it up to my powermaster after a good greasing and changing the gearbox oils and it seemed to run fine, my question is above the auger there is a big squirrel cage looking motor that runs on a belt. Does this remove the shuck. The belt is gone so do I need to replace it? Also where can I find what model and year in case I got to buy parts. I am fixing to pick 12 acres of corn,so any help would be appreciated!! Thank YOU, Steve

Somewhere near the gearbox there should be a serial number tag. Mind if you say how much you payed for it? I got a pretine original condition New Idea 323 single row noe sheller for $1000. Been through 40 acres at the most and it shows.

Sounds like it should work out well for you.

The fan blows the husks down into the husking rollers, helps a lot. Replace the belt. That can be fun, on some models you have to remove the main shaft. Most are a v-belt, I just took the measurements to NAPA & got a belt there when mine chewed up.

Somewhere on the machine should be a plate with model/serial number. I'm not smart enough to tell you where exactly to look.

On a 323, it's at the base of the elevator hopper.
