I've seen other posts about this machine. When I visited the JD Restoration Center a couple of years ago, they couldn't give me any info except a couple of pictures. I saw a book at Barnes & Noble that said JD stopped production of the 4A in 1936 but had no other information. I've never seen one at any of the shows (even Rollag and Mt. Pleasant). Mine has a pto on it but it doesn't look like original equipment. It has a blower on it that I'm pretty sure is original. I'll have it working by spring but I'd sure like to get more information about it. Does anyone out there have any information about these?

Allan I would like to see a Picture of your Sheller if you could post it. Back in N.ILL. until the 80's there was a lot of shelling of Corn from Cribs by Truck Mtd. Shellers. Some of the ones I remember were the King and Hamilton [made in Ottawa ILL] The Cook [made in Bllomington ILL I think], and of course the John Deere. My Sheller Guy,Bucky Hill, had a John Deere Mtd. On a 49 or 50 GMC 2/ton Chasis w/ 6 Cylinder Engine w/straight Pipe. Man how it would scream.I Loved to listen to It!!
