3-point scoop which is the best built and size?

I have noticed there are different types of 3-point scoops. Some scoop frames are made of angle and other frames are made of round stock. Which is stronger? There seems to be two sizes, 30" and 36". Is that the outside dimension of the frame, or the with of the scoop? Are all brands about equal, or is there one brand that is significantly better than the rest? Thanks for any input.

I got a Ford scoop at an auction years ago that has worked very well on my '41 9N. I think it was made in the late '60s or '70s. It has a large tube frame.

For what it's worth, over on the Ford N Board they had a string on second hand Dearborn Scoops a week or so ago. The consensus was that the old Dearborn scoops you can get at farm auctions were better than the ones you can buy new (if in good condition). Whatever you do, make sure what you buy is reversable.

Reversible? That leaves out my Dearborn trip scoop!

Larry I don't know which is best, but these Howse and International Mfg I have here aint worth a hoot.
They measure these at the outside of the bucket. The best I've seen around here are Modern Mfg-Beaumont,Tx. I don't know if there available where you are.

Thanks for the info. I was going to call International Mfg tomorrow morning. You saved me a quarter and a 120 mile round trip. The round stock steel frame looks stronger, but I'm no engineer. Monday I will call CT Farm and Country and Big Blue. Thanks for the calendar. The "Big Bud" tractor (in the calendar) is a man's man machine.

Ma Burr thought you'd like it, and I'm glad you do. A farm house just aint right without something like that in it.
You're welcome and good luck.
