I am currently trying to size and buy a bottom plow for my 5200 40 horse John Deere. It is also a 4 wheel drive and I have been told this will give it about 30% more pulling power. Is this true? I also have been told that it will pull 3 16's by some and others have told me it won't. Is there anyone that has a similiar combination that could give input? Also have looked in my area for plows and have found mostly worn out junk. What little new stuff I have found has been chain store flimsy. Am looking for one to last. Any suggestions?

In our ground it would not pull over a 2 14" plow . The new 40 hp. tractors will not pull the load that the ons of the 1950'would. As for disk if you get one without adjustable gangs do not go over 6.5 feet on the back gangs, If yol get adjustable gangs you could go a couple of feet wider. Leroy

I have just the thing. A 2-16 Case plow. It loaded my MF-135 well with either liquid in the rear tires or new rear tires. It wasn't traction limited, and most of the time plowing alfalfa in central Iowa Nicolet/Webster/Clarion soil at 4 to 5 mph. The low ground wet spots take a gear slower. At that speed with the right moisture the ground breaks up nicely.

The plow is category one.

Sorry about the double post, accidentally reposted while scrolling back through where I had been already. . .
Anyway, I found the Kverneland website. They hail from Norway, but I have seen Kverneland plows advertized here. I think someone mentioned a dealer in Vermont once . . . .

Thanks for all the info. Finally found a good 3x16 Massey Ferguson. Was more intrested in a 3x14, but for the price was willing to see if it will pull it. Waiting for the rain to stop. Next on the list is a pick up disk. Any thoughts on size, features, or brands?
