Mornin',

What we gonna hash over today? :>)

If somebody doesn't hurry up and get a super volatile subject going, I might have to break down, go outside and do some actual bone fide work! Hurry! :>(

Allan: I've already been out and done some of that actual work. Wife believed I may have shut one of the cats in my shop yesterday after having tractor out. Those damn cats go in there while I have the big door open, then hide as I back the tractor in. She knows cat's lives are in danger if they sleep on and leave cat hair on the tractor seat. My shop is off limits to cats.

I went out this morning, couldn't see any cats, but given their ability to hide, I decided to start 140 as I wanted to check timing advance sometime any how. Plus with nothing but man doors at each end open, cats soon leave, with a tractor running in there.

140 timing advance has been corrected, never did see a cat, but then they can move fast.

I missed one of my barn cats the other day by a hair's breadth. Most cats'll run away from machinery, but not this one, she chases it. anyway, rear mount snowblower on the 2N, very nearly ran over her and made catsoup! She was about 1/8" from the rotor when I got stopped.

You must be bored, next thing you'll mention ampacity again!

Mornin',

I think the old gal will do all I need for my little toy-farm operation.

Did a little more nosin' around on it yesterday and it seems like it is at least "functional".

Haven't bought it yet tho.

LOL! I hear that!

A few years ago, we ordered a monster (at the time) 850XL. I told Susan to go ahead and get the high-end machine, but no. She just had to save a grand and bought the cheaper second level.

Darned thing has eaten a power supply, two video cards, a video tree, a mother board and one modem. Plus, it is the slowest swapping devil I've ever seen. I just don't think that dude was ever meant to run.

I've got it all rebuilt and setting here on emergency standby, but it really doesn't have my full confidence. :>)

Aw well, such is the business.

Allan:

Not controversial...

Thought I would let you know about a recent Dell server experience since you are in the Inet business. 2 weeks ago Monday I went to work and discovered our mail gateway was down. It is one of those little 1u dell servers. Long and short of it, Dell sends couries with parts, up and going less than 4hrs later.

Dell occasionally gets a bad rap on service on the consumer side, but the business service is fantastic!

Yes Sir,

You make one heck of a good point and that's why I've always stayed with the high-end stuff.

Gateway does that too; they'll fly the tech right to your door with the repairs if it is needed.

Trouble is, writing that first check. Kinda makes your ears bleed and yer eyes lock back in your head. :>)
