Im finely at my whits end trying to I.D. an old IH sickle bar mower and now its time to let you take a stab at it. The best I could come up with is its posibly a 25-V. The mower has a big V shaped frame with a "Crazy wheel" (caster) and bolts to a drawbar. It comes really close to bolting up to my old Farmall F-14. The bar is 7' long and the rear tire is a 400-12. It looks to be an original hand lift but the handle is gone. However there is a IH "upgrade" set of brackets that converted it to a hydraulic cylinder, but the cylinder is gone. Its a PTO drive with a belt and a long pitman stick. PTO shaft/pulley housing casting numbers are M2566. The spring loaded drive pulley casting # is M2570. The pitman/drivin pulley # is 455586-R1. the big casting that holds the bar is 453850-R3. I found a picture of one that is really close in the implement photo section here on this site and is titled "International V sickle mower. Is this a 25-V or a 27-V mower? if so, which one, if not, any clues and what years were they made? Would like to get a manual for it. I also plan to restore it and put it to work behind the old F-14. Thanks for your help. Steve in MT

Back in 1948 dad bought all new equipment....amoung it was a Farmall M and a 27v 7' mower for cutting hay...it bolted up behind the tractor drawbar....two flat plates bolted on the mower drawbar then onto the tractor drawbar.....the mower drawbar and tractor drawbar did not sit on top of each other....i think we used the same hydrolic cylinder as the cultivator...Good luck Don

My 25-V manual lists both numbers M2570 and M2566 as part numbers for the pulley and housing. The other two numbers are not listed.

If I remember correctly, If the adjustment that tilts the cutter bar is a hand wheel and screw it is a 25-V. It has three different bolt holes for a carriage bolt it is a 27-V

It has one big bolt with what appears to be 3 different "slots" to tilt the cutter bar assy. Any idea what size cylinder Ill need? Thank you. Steve

Thanks for your input guys. A 2x8 cylinder should be easy to come up with and Im going to chance a manual as a 27V and see what happens. I see binder books has manuals for $12.95. I see them on ebay for way more. Thanks again.
