Mornin' Guys,

Just a FYI, but I wanted to show how darned easy it is to get these things out of time.

Prior owner had replaced the chains, sprockets and axles. Trouble is, he didn't pay close enough attention to the timing of the old heifer. :>)

I've still got to adjust that empty-tension stop on the baler's right side, then she should be pretty much "square" with herself again. :>)

An untrained eye (non chain baler guy) wouldn't be able to tell that there is an extra link on the right side.... but you are right.... pretty good for a guy who just bought that baler for a steal last yr..... how many bales have u made so far? I have 2 chain balers..... .. had the 1st one since 1987. My neighbor baled 75 bales for me with his JD535 last yr because I thought I may have some extra to sell and wanted some nicer looking bales for that. Well...ended up feeding them..... the JD bales look like they had been stored inside as far as hay quality.....my chain baler bales lose 20 percent compared to them..... ..

Not sure what you mean by "time" Allan? Is the chain one tooth ahead on the sprocket? Surely nobody would run it that way? And besides, you just had the chain out, right? Empty tension stop? I don't use mine cuz the instuction calls for them to just touch anyway. I let the tension ride on the chain. but maybe yours don't have air bags? Does that mean you have to adjust some spring or something? I'd still sell you a real baler if you want to trade up.

Yes,

He had the bottom sprockets aligned correctly, but had an extra link between the two axles over on the right side. That made the chain so it wasn't running parallel with itself left to right.

It ran fine, but was forever running "cock-eyed"; the spring-loaded compression-sissor compensated for it, but thereby was always trying to push the bottom of the bale to the right side of the chamber.

It was that misaligned chain that started this whole darned mess 'cause I could see that something just wasn't running square to the world. It didn't "look" right. :>)

No, this one has the springs for tension, not the air bags.

Yes Sir, I'd really like to have your baler, but this year I'm in a penny-crunch to get all the critters and necessary essentials bought (Plus, silly wife seems to think she needs to re-model that old house too. 'Bout choked when that estimate hit the desk.) :>(

This one has got to do the job for this year, anyway. :>(
