Oh, Oh

Wife is making me swallow my own medicine now. She went and grabbed this Sundowner Pro Stock 2000 today.

Hope aluminum is the way to go, 'cause I know absolutely nothing about stock trailers.

On top of that, I gotta run darn near clear to Minnesota to pick it up. Sure hope she knows what she's doin'. :>(

Allan, watch for cracking along the tops of the wall posts and back door, hinge posts, and around the wheel wells. This is where it will break down. The aluminum trailers are great to haul, but they do get weaker with age. I ran a 24 footer back and forth across North America in the 90's, and wore out two trucks. The aluminum will corrode if you let it. Wash regularly, Have it brightened(acid washed at the truck stop) and it will be good.

Yepper,

That's the plan if we can figure out a way to get into the game without breaking the budget.

At least now, I think I've finally got her off that silly "Alpaca and Lama" kick. :>)

Took me 4 years to get mine to quit talking about alpacas and llamas, to get rid of the horseys and get cattle. We started with one cow/calf pair and so far have 7 that should be dropping any day now, and 3 more young ones.

Great looking trailer! Mine's steel and it is HEAVY!

Alan,
Great looking trailer. Alum. is the way to go. Lighter to pull than the steel trailers, holds up great, if you clean it out every so often. My favorite part, is your not constantly fighting the rock chips that quickly turn to ugly little rust spots.

Allan, What a trailer!!! Tell the Mrs. She dun-good!
A trailer like that is worth its wt. in gold. keep the ol thing washed out, treat it half way desent and it will be the last trailer you will ever buy.
Case in point a buddy of mine just an Alumininum Gooseneck trailer, the company had done a little research and tracked down it first alumininum trailer and found it still with the original buyer and had only just a couple or three welds done to it since its manufacture. They were very inpressed by its durability. Good luck with it. Later,
John A.

OBTW...May I use it next Thursday?...!

Well,

It was either a used aluminum or a new steel w/wood floor outfit; they were just about the same darned price. Plus, those flashy new Featherlites are just plain out of our league.

The silly things "just set" most of the time and we just figured that the anti-corrosive metal and tough floor was the way to go.

Lady that sold it is one of those "horsey" types and sure seems to have taken care of it.

We shall see, I guess.

alum. great way to go, try pulling a steel trailer like that. Clean out every so often, and they will last a long time.

Hi Frank,

I'm such a 'babe in the woods' on these things, I'm ashamed of myself.

It's a 7 X 7 X 18 bed and the lady that sold it claims that we "Won't even know it's back there" with the Powerstroke. Does that sound right to you?

I know with this flatbed I've got, I sure as heck know I've tied on to something.

Yes Sir,

When the grass greens up. But, the big push now is that she's gotta implant her two ponies over in Alliance here shortly and the mare has a date booked with a big feller over in Wyoming in May.

Fought 'er off as long as I could; but she was pretty darned adamant 'bout this trailer.

Talked to Curt over in Colorado before noon and he says that they are about the same price down there, so she snooped around and found this one up north. So, guess I’m just tryin' to keep piece in the family on this deal. :>)

How's the calving' comin'? Weather clear up for ya?

Well, lets see, if that trailer is in my neighboring state and you're gonna get into it sooner or later, we've got 4 heifers that you should come on over and try out your new trailer with.....

We got 2 red heads and 2 standard black & white Holsteins, all of them are breed and ready to go on a truck to a new home...

I'm not sure you picked a great time to get in the cattle business. The price of cows, pairs and replacement heifers is a bit steep right now. You'll be alright if the market holds, but if you buy some expensive cows and the market drops, than it could be rough. Always a gamble isn't it? Oh well, you gotta have some cows so next year you can be in the same boat as the Cowman and myself. Had a set of twins today. She's only taking the one, so tomorrow I gotta find something to do with the other one.

Yeah,

We're really watchin' the market and if the bottom doesn't fall out (which I really hope it doesn't for you guys' sake) we might have to go a different route.

Heck Dave, you might be a surrogate mama by this time tomorrow. We used to yank 'em right off the cow and into the bucket all the time. :>)

Allan,

You're from Alliance?

Carhenge still there?

Went thru there in '93 and came across it. What a kick! They did a great job!

For those who don't know about Carhenge, it is a replica of Stonehenge, but made out of old cars stuck in the ground.

Yeah,

I don't know what the deal was on that. Used to be one of those fields just littered with junk and sometime in the early 70s I went by there and there it stood.

I think somebody's wife told him to clean the darned place up. :>)

Since that time it has kind of caught on as a mini "attraction" and he keeps 'em painted up real well. Trouble is, it is way out off the beaten path tho; not a heck of a lot of traffic out in that area.
