I have inherited a 3 pt Ford 2 row planter(along with a '56 640 and a 2 bottom plow). I have done a nearly museum quality restoration on the 640 and would now like to do the planter to go along on the show circuit this year. Finding info on the 640 was easy. The planter has been impossible!! The planter is red with gray seed bins and a white fiberglass fertilizer bin.Round ford logo decals on all the bins It is mostly all there and serviceable, but has a way to go to be restored. How do I find the serial/model # to reference parts? Will FNH have parts? Any used parts donors out there? Did Ford build these or were they subbed out and the Ford name put on them? Any sources for photos or parts manuals out there? Thanks

It sure sounds like a 309 planter. Check with your local New Holland dealer. I'd be surprised if he couldn't get a copy of the manual. I restored one of these 3 or 4 years ago, and have a copy of the owner's manual. As I recall, I got some bearings from a New Holland dealer.

Thanks for the info- wengers site had a pic of a planter identical to mine. However, it is $600 (ouch) thus I must find a junker to buy needed pieces from. Still need any help on literature, parts manuals, operator manual etc.

I have a copy of the parts manual for the 309 planter. I could provide you with a copy of it. Also, I've got a Model 310 planter, and am mounting a 309 ferilizer hopper on the tool bar for it. I've tried to locate the individual fertilizer hoppers for the 310 unit planter, but to no avail. Any help on this?
