What kind of quality are caroni finish mowers? Are they a bottom end mower or at least a mid-grade? Thanks

We used to have a 7 1/2 ft. Caroni behind an Oliver 550. Was a good heavy mower, but seemed to hum pretty good. We paid $1400 for it new about 10 years ago.

I've never owned one..but I used to sell them.

I never heard anybody say a negative word about them. Me personaly...I think they're comparable to Woods

Do you recall what the 6 foot model sold for new? I am looking at a used one that is about 5 years old and am trying to get an idea price-wise.

Hi 641er. I've been using a 6 foot Caroni finish mower behind my MF 135 diesel for 6 years to mow my 5 acre yard for 6 years now. The only thing I've had to do to it is replace the belts 1 time and have one of the wheels welded back on after it broke off when it dropped into a hole. Overall, I think it's a very good mower. I think I paid around $1100 new for it.

IMHO, there is no better on the market, regardless of the color or name pasted on the front. I have a 5 footer that I bought new over 20 years ago. I replaced the deck once....just beat the life out of the original! One spindle and oil seals in the gearbox are the only maintinence items..and ONE set of belts. I used it for mowing 2.5 acres at least once a week all those years. Just last year, I bought a used Woods 6 footer from a pal because i bought a bigger tractor and got a great deal on the mower. If the Italians ever got anything right, they did on Caroni mowers.
