Anyone using one of these , or other spading equipment. If you are, I'd like to ask you some tractor questions.

Thanks -allan

Allan, I have not used one but am thinking of
adding a step down transmission to my 8n so I can get one.I got a neat brochure from
Fresh Aire Farm Implements in IN about their
Imants spading machine. They have a lot of different models.e-mail them for a brochure.

Spading machines are favored for organic
farming and really big in Europe.

Okay, I surrender to my curiosity...what is a spading machine? Is it similar to a rototiller?

Here are the benefits:

double digs the soil

by incorporating green manure, promotes
aeorbic decompoition

lessens soil compaction

increases water and air filtration, thus
improving moisture retention and soil
biological activity

It does not break down the soil structure as
bad as a tiller can.

Interesting...thank you. Can you describe how it works the soil? Is it PTO driven? Any idea where I might view a picture of one? I'm looking at ways to incorporate minimum till/cover crop methods into my operation. Too small to be called a farm, too big to be called a garden.
