Checking to see if any one knows anything about a Gold Mccormick International 2 point #312 plow. Seems to be original paint and not repainted.. Is this an Anniversery Model by any chance? Or a deminstrater?? Any help would be great.

the gold plows were made in the 460-560 era. they were ih's first try at a semimount plow. the 311, 411, 511 were fast hitch mounted; the 312, 412, 512 had the tail wheel to take some of the weight off the fast hitch. you can imagine the strain on a 560 rear end with a 5 bottom fully mounted plow hanging off it. i have a 412, but it is not gold (actually rust, but it had red paint before the rust). i've never seen a 312. you might have a rare piece there.

Countryjent: I don"t have your answer, just an observation. Your plow would be early 1960s vintage. Don"t know exactly when the last one"s were built but I"m thinking 65-66. The gold demonstrator tractors are mostly 68-69 vintage from what I"ve seen. It could be closer than that. It would seem reasonable that a gold demonstrator plow would have been put in the field with a gold tractor. That must be the answer.

I saw this yesterday, figured someone in the know would have answered before now.

Thanks, I was thinking it was a little older then that because I have another one that is similer to it (that is around that age I would say) but dose not have the Mccormick Decale on it.. Was thinking that the Mccormick decale made it a little older? Just thinking out loud here.. Thanks again.

Countryjent: The McCormick decal disappeared from tractors 67-68. Very likely implements were much the same.
