Can anybody give me the scoop on the 5600 baler? what years were they made, how big a bale, soft center or tight, manual tie, starts a bale easy in most conditions, reliabilty, hard to work on,etc. Thanks for any info you can offer,I know where there is one for sale and I'am planing to look at it Monday.

We have had a Hesston 5600 for several years now. We baled mostly brome and straw. We baled beans and corm stalks a couple of times also. It is a twine wrap baler and uses belts, not chains. We had to replace all the belts because the originals were always breaking. We usually got out bales up around 5' tall. It didn't do as nice a job as a baler with net wrap, but you can still bale some pretty tight bales. We always made our windrows fairly wide, and it seemed to work very good. Besides the original belts having to be replaced, this has always been a good baler. It is a manual tie and it usually always started the bale fairly easily. Jon.

I have someone who is having issues with their Hesston 5600 bailer. As the bails get bigger it binds up in the belts and also the string gets wrapped around the string pickup and doesn't go around the bail. Any suggestions? Anyplace to get a manual? His name is Mark phone # (651) 214-0247 in Central Minnesota
