Yep, thats what that board is used on. A mowing machine, and i can still see the one my Grampaw had on his farm, and how it worked!

Looks like the board that goes on the end of the cutter bar on a sickle mower. Purpose of the boar and the stick was to throw enough hay away from the uncut hay so the inside skid plate would ride in the bare spot on the next pass so the skid plate would not ride on cut hay and bunch it up. I think it was called a swath board. If thats what it is it obviously hasn't been used and it is close to 100 years old.
