I would like to know if there is a better assembly or update for the sickle knife to attach to the wobble drive as opposed to the rubber bushing? It is quite a job to press the bushing out without a press or taking it somewhere to get it pressed out to replace it. My New Idea, much like the IH, has a greasable steel pin that instead of the that bushing.

Thanks, that looks like a very good idea. I do have two sickles for this machine, but both knives still have the rivets. My New Idea I have replaced the rivets with the small bolts and have had very good luck with it.

Here is an idea I don't know if it will work but it could.

STEP 1

Pull the sickle out a little bit to work on it.

STEP 2

Take a die grinder and cut a slit running up and down and pull the bushing out

STEP 3

Weld two ears that a 3/8 bolt will go thru.

STEP 4

Reassemble.

If any questions look at a 479 sickle.Good luck..

I wrote the wrong model number, it should be a 469 instead of a 269.

I had a 469 and went through this. I scrounged up a spare blade from a 12 foot haybine, shortened it, and put an end on it. This way I could keep working and take the blade with the bad bushing back to the NH dealer at my leisure. By the time you buy new knives and a new bushing and/or end it may be cheaper to buy a whole new blade. Chrisco's idea sounds good and you might work on that. Are you already using the little bolts instead of rivets on the blade?
