Has anyone out there tried to use a ATV 150 to 175 pound pull type of seeder / spreader? Will they work on a plowed and disked field without turning over? We have a 4wd ATV that should pull it OK. I have looked at new 3 point hitch fertilizer / seeders and feel they seem to be overkill for my type of use (1 to 2 acres at a time). I would like to hear about experiences with the ATV type and 3 point type of seeder / spreaders.

I have used some ATV seeding equipment (spin spreaders) on small wildlife plots and had good success and little problems. Talk to your local ATV dealer to get info on the eqipment.

Hi,
For 2 acres of pasture use a garden tractor with a agrifab 125 spreader, might be the next size up not sure. You could get the next size up to pull with a tractor? what size tractor do you have? or if time is not important just use a garden tractor.

I think you'll find the 3 point spreader is a lot cheaper than the ATV ones I've seen advertised, but those little 125# agrifabs for a hundred dollars work pretty good.I've even pulled one with a pickup in a pinch.Had to strap my son to the truck though to work the lever
