Van Brundt Grain Drill....Anybody Want It?

Here's the story: this isn't an ad, I'm just merely asking.

I purchased this drill from my neighbor a year ago after getting a backache scooping 60 acres worth of wheat seed into my little 11' John Deere, tired, being cranky and thinking I needed a bigger outfit and an auger fill.

Long story short, I just hauled it home after finishing planting wheat and have decided that in this dry country I really should have a shoe drill to get some depth and ridge the ground better.

Anyhoo, this drill is a 14' model on 8" centers and gear drive instead of the chains. Clean as a whistle and the neighbor planted 80 acres with it a year ago.

If I were to keep it, I'd replace the disc bearings because these originals need to be greased, I'd replace the tires just because and there are some depth-tension springs that are broke. Otherwise, it is field ready.

I'm just wondering if anyone out there would need it. If so, I'll let you have it for what I have in it and believe me, it isn't much.

Email is open; put "drill" in the subject line.

Allan

How much do you want and where in Nebraska are you at. I'm down outside of Lawrence, KS. I need to redo some pasture that is overgrazed, over weedy, and has an affinity for locust and hedge.

We've still got Grandpa's old Van Brunt B drill- plus it's got the grass seed up front for seeding down a hay field. Manual we have says it's either a 20x7 or 24x7- I'm not sure which but I think it may be the 20x7. I'd hafta go take a look at it in the shed.

Either way, it's still a very good drill and serves the purpose. Bigger than most bigger farmers use too- Think most of them that haven't bought a big no-till drill mostly use 10' drills...

Will it fit in a flat rate package? HAR! I wish. Around here you'd get a good price for it.

Allan those drills are still popular around here.

But here is 750 miles from there.

Should I send my driver? (:~})

It would fetch $500 to $1000 here in the spring.

Yeah, I know.

Seems to me that I had to give $600 for my little 11' DR-A model and then had to turn around and sink another $100 in parts on that one.

No more than I've got in this old feller, it would make someone a darned good drill with very, very little outlay.

Man, I wish there weren't so many states between Nebraska and Indiana, I'd love to have that old gal behind my tractor.

That looks almost like the twin of the one I just bought! The main difference is that instead of the wheels on the back mine has some chain looking things.

Did I get taken paying $250 for it?
