150 years of IHC book only shows 2 or 3 pics of some on steel cast wheels but not much on IDing one. Says first made in 1927 in 6 or 9 ft. models then later also 4,5 & 8 ft. No.1 made 1927-31. Says 7 models made by 1950s with last ones made in 1962. Weldon's brochure will prove that wrong though lol. Book said a model 11D-14 had 14 disks spaced 10 inches apart. Know I've seen later IHC oneways on rubber tires that had to be at least 20 ft. size. Krause made 20 ft. ones too but they don't look the same as the IHC ones.

A 20 ft unit would not be a true one-way. Tractors of that era would not be able to pull a true 20 ft one-way. An 8 or 9 ft one-way would be a big load for a tractor like an R JD or WD-9 IHC. BTDT

Based on the info from Weldon, those larger units are comparable to the John Deere units known as Surflex Tillers which didn"t cut nearly as deep as a true one-way. Lots of people get those two different implements mixed up.

By describing his with all the disk on one gang he described what IH called a one-way harrow plow where all the disks would ride on a common axle on bearing hangers. Anyway that was IHC's name for them then and you'll find them in the plow section of that IHC book. I didn't say his tractor could pull a 20 footer just mentioning they later made them that size and seen plenty of 16-20 ft. later one way disk tillers here in plains areas. It takes 70-90 HP to pull a 20 ft. one way disk tiller depending on soil and how deep you go but many would pull two 20 footers later before the big 4x4s with larger sweep chisel plows became popular. Many would pull more than that in tandem gangs or mutiples hooked together of smaller ones. In the plains area didn't matter what brand it was if a one-way disk tiller with all disks on a gang axle or gangs inline we called them one-ways and everyone knew what you were talking about and if not we knew you were from someplace else right off lol. I just noticed the IHC book called them one-way harrow plows and every company seemed to have a different name for them back then like JD called them a sureflex tiller but there was sure nothing that flexible about a JD 20ft. one way disk tiller either. A true one-way disk plow has each larger disk mounted on a separate bearing and shank off the main frame. Yes, one way disk tillers could have several gangs on more bearing hangers but that didn't make them what many of us call a disk plow. In this area we saw a lot of larger IH ones but not many small ones they got gobbled up probably by the scrap metal drive for WWII but most here were used on larger acreages being Krause, Shaffer, JD or IHC but there a few others shop made by small companies too.

I have a 1967 IH Buyers Guide that has photos of two models of what they call " One-way Harrow Plows" . Model no. 120 is rigid frame. Available in Six sizes, 6' to 16 foot width.
Model no. 110 is flexible frame, called a " Flexall". 9,13,& 18 foot widths. I can send you photos by e-mail if you like. Reply by sending me an e-mail if interested.

Wisconsin Historical site shows some IHC decisions on those you mention on number 1452 in 1960.
