Weak spot(s) on ours was: sickle bar attachment to drive arm broken slip clutch bolts on crusher roller bearings spun on shaft for crusher roller (found a big lathe and had shafts turned down and sleeves made).

Good machine. Big farm next door had a hesston sp cutter. It was broke down and he asked if I would cut some hay so he could feed cows. Said to go up on the hill and cut hay, he would be along. I had a Ford 5000 pulling the 469, we were cutting faster than he could chop. The next day he sold the hesston and bought a New Holland sp haybine.

He kept the New Holland until Hesston came out with the Hydra swing. I did not like sp machines, too much $$ and another engine to service. I could always run a gear slower to "pick up" downed hay. Neighbor would not go slower, had to be faster.

Would buy the 469 in a heart beat if the bearings were good and the rubber roller was solid and not throwing chunks.

Probably made in the 1970's, maybe late 1960's. I had one which I paid about $900 for a long time ago. Mine had been left outside and I always had rust issues with it, replacing back deck and the hay flap under the deck. If yours has always been shed kept it should be ok. The 469 really works good, floats on uneven ground well.
