Do tillers vibrate the tractor? I know some tillers with special hookups to the tractor have a reputation for vibrating the tractor, but I'd like to know if a regular 3-point hitch tiller will vibrate the tractor.

Thanks,

Allen

If you are cutting sod just take your time. Adjust the depth so you are just cutting down a couple of inches. Make sure you do it when the ground has some moisture in it.
I have a 6ft Howard Rotovater and it will eat up some ground in the right conditions. But as others have said it will push my D-17 in dry hardpan. I get alot more vibration from the bushog than the tiller.

Depends on your first gear and how hard your ground is.

If your tractor has a first gear that is way too fast, the tiller will hop.

If your ground is about as hard as the hardpan in Tucson, Arizona, the tiller will shake.

If you've got both, you'll never stay on the seat.

Make sure your hydaulics are in good working order and working at good speed, otherwise you just might take out a fence or something at rows end, if she doesn't lift quickly !! Those tillers will really "push you" along !! And yeah, they are tough in un-plowed ground or grassy areas, so practice a little, first ! Best of luck. Jim B.

If you travel at the proper ground speed...slow, and don't hit many rocks larger than a football, then you shouldn't spill a drop of you're beer. Much smoother than lawnmowing. Mike

i have a bush hog model 72 (6 foot) that i run behind a 574 ih. it works good in soft ground. tillers aren't meant to run in packed ground and not only will they fibrate but you stand a good chance of breaking something some where.

I wanted to add that my tractor's speed in first gear is 0.60 mph. (Ford 881).

Thanks,

Allen
