check out a JD 71 unit and see if you can mount a single from back of your ATV. Coles units are about $900.00 or so, JD multiples at salvage for $400-$500 for 6 row- get 1 unit for $100.00 maybe, Single planter unit from some garden suppliers $200.00 to $450.00 for twin unit on 3 pt tool bar. For garden I got a hand push Garden Way - little plastic bucket and simple drop tube, front wheel drive belt to corn plate for $10.00 , same basic thing I got mother few years back for $50.00- think of JD 71 as overgrown garden planter with wheel drive to plate for field use. .

how much are you trying to plant. sounds like a tool used to transplant pine trees is what you need. it just a 3/8 thick piece of steel that is shaped like a shovel only sharper and completely straight with a handle made from a piece of 3/4 galavinized pipe and a steel bar welded to it for your foot to press on. stick it in the ground move it back and forth a little pull it out and drop in your seed. not fast, but it its as rough in there as it sounds like it might work. step on the slot to cover the seed and move on. if the ground is real soft you might locate an old hand planter that they use to use years ago and plant your corn with it.
