I got an ad in the mail today for a liner that goes in the chamber of small square balers called "Bale Skiis". They are out of Montana and claim Fuel savings, and a more consistant bale. Has anybody out there heard of these people or used these "Bale Skiis"????

I have them in a NH 575 and they work great.Bale weight is the same with less tension on the chamber. Less power is needed too. My neighbor had them a year before me and spoke highly of them.

I seriously looked into these a couple years ago. I think their theory is correct in that the bales will slide through the chamber easier. What makes them work is their reverse holding ability which "grabs" the bale and doesn't let it release its existing tension. Thus you get a more uniform and tighter bale. I actually called and talked to them and they gave me several names and phone numbers of customers. In short, none of these people could give me a definitive answer as to if it actually helped. Most said their balers performed just fine after installation. This, in and of itself, could be a testimony of success. One individual I talked to bad mouthed them pretty bad. I got the impression that he would complain of about anything though.
The information I collected was not enough to convince me to buy them. I think if you have an older baler whose chamber has been neglected, the bale ski's would be a benefit.

I would question the fuel savings as it takes a certain amout of resistence to form a tight bale. If bale slids through chamber easier(less fuel) then in turn it should weight less IMHO. Jim
