I found a NH 329 PTO spreader for $ 400 ....

I t needs wood a little tin work, and a new chain....

I can handle the tin work....wood wont be too much....

Question is the chain....it takes a 67H chain...parts diagram calls for 202 links....

I would have to buy 4 rolls at 52 links/roll.....

TSC way too pricey.....Balsters had it priced at $509.08 per 100 ft....works out to $51 per 10' roll....do they sell just 10' rolls or must you buy the whole 100' ( in 10' rolls) to get that price??

Also the apron bars require 15 LH and 15 RH attaching links.....are these only available thru New Holland ??
Just wondering if it will be worth it to buy this and fix it by putting $3-400 in it or forget it....

I dont spread a lot in a years time but am willing to fix something up to save a few bucks....plus newer ones are pricey....

Thanks

Like the others said Check that axle. My son has replaced a few with a square tube that will oulast the spreader. As far as a new Apron Chain
we usually get them from Albus Conveyor any size you want.

poor design. It sounds to me like you will invest about $500.00min.plus $400. to make a spreader
worth $900.00 or a 1000.00 when you get thru.
I second this. Check the axle to see if it is in good shape. If it is questionable then don't do it. The chain and sheet metal isn't such a big deal. Structure issues are another matter entirely.

Have one. Replaced the chain with t-bar, much stronger. The floor can be replaced with treated 5/4 SYP. My biggest problem has been the lack of a real axle. NH uses a box frame setup to support the wheels. It sux. I ended up u-bolting a section of lolly column across the axle area. Works good now.

Nice small spreader, lightly built. Doesn't do anywhere near the job my old IH M-200 ground drive does as far as shredding.

T-bar chain complete with cross bars from a well know catalog is 398.00. E-mail me for name as I can't post here.

Clefus, I have a 327 spreader. I priced new apron and wood just for the nuts of it. The local machinery dealer can get me the new wood kit for $140..all pieces cut and drilled and ready to bolt in, I believe the new apron chain was $385. I took a few cross pieces to the local welding shop for repair, bought 6 repair links and the spreader is working fine. I may get the wood kit and do the floor then the spreader would be like new. I always pressure wash and oil the spreader when I am done using it..it has been a very reliable spreader.
