a mounted allis picker will do a lot less shelling, but will leave more husk on the ear. They really don't have enough capacity for high producing hybrid corn. Seems to be some collector demand for an allis picker.
Can get a one row NI cheap around here.

Yeh the old allis picker did have that fault. I remember guys telling me from years ago they had to constantly work the hand clutch while picking. Almost all tractors back then needed a slower speed.

If you are a collector grab the allis if it is cheap. You can always resell to a collector in the future. The #7 ni is what i have along with a mounted ford that i am looking forward to trying. The old pickers all shelled a bit into the row which makes it good if you can run animals after picking into the field. I bought a newer super picker{new idea} whcih paid for itself in shelled corn savings. The wood bros.[ford] ,allis ,olivers and the rest were used around here but the new idea in this area reigned supreme.I pulled a new idea #7 and two fully loaded wagons down the road here with my wd allis.

I have a 1 row new idea #7 that would be good for a small operation.

I used it on 2 acres this past fall.

Look in the implement photo adds for more info.

Also have dump wagon to go with it.

Chuck

How about a 2 row...wide or narrow. Husking unit or sheller?

Take the New Idea. Those Allis mounted were a real lemon and hard to mount
