I just purchased a Case 223 Hay Conditioner in working (Chaff/grease/rust/original paint/decal) condition. I do not need it yet could not pass it up due to the incredibly low price tag. I am interested in repainting and redecaling this machine. The deflector is a creme color, the body is orange, and the wheels are a creme yellow. Can these colors be found relatively easily? Can the decals be reproduced? The main decal I would like to see is the "MFG by J.I. Case Racine Wisconsin".

BTW, I have never seen one of these in operation before, but after hooking it to a PTO, I can see that one needs to give it a wide berth. All guards and covers are in place, yet I can see that a careless move could result in something permanent.

I hope to be able to rent out my time. Can't wait to see it in the field.

BTW, all original literature came with the machine. I may be able to scan pages if needed.

First I was going to tell you Case colors are Desert Sunset and Flambru Red but then I got to thinking that Hesston built those for Case and I believe they used Cases Flambru Red but Hesston cream instead of the Desert Sunset. Lets wait and see what the others think.

The colors looked to be similar if not the same as the Case 711B that my friend had. This is one heavy machine.

On a different thought, the tires heated up pretty good on the ride home and any bumps prompted a squeal from the tires. Further looking revealed that the tires were heavily toed in. Is this for hill holding? The thought process behind this is that the lower tire with more weight/traction would track uphill.

Just curious,

Aaron

You"re reading way too much into this thing. Tires were low on air, wheel bearings might be dry, toe-in is not an issue with a hay conditioner--tracking uphill? How would the designer know which side of the hill you were on? Tire squeal? driving too fast, and every so often the tires hit the pavement, again.

Tires were installed two minutes before the trip-40 psi. Tires are evidently pointed at each other. Wheel bearings stayed cool for the entire trip. Wheel bearings also ran true without growl or wobble. If you think about it, if both tires are pointed in then either side if downhill and therefore more loaded will track uphill. But you are correct, I am likely reading way to much into this. Seems like a solid machine.

Thanks for the reply,

Aaron
