Would anyone know the pro's and con's of a 3300 john deere combine? also any one know the specs (hopper capacity max header size etc) Looking at one to do 25 - 50 acres a year.
Any input would be helpfull.

My seed salesman/neighbor has two of them, one with corn header and one with soybean platform. I hope to buy one of them from him if he ever wants to sell, or retires. "Tractor Shop" magazine, which deals with all brands of machinery from the 60's on, did a nice article on the 3300 combine about 2 or 3 years ago. From all I've heard about them, a very good machine.

Mine held 70 bushels of corn with a bin extension. It's plenty big enough for your number of acres. I did a lot more than that with mine, while also working a full time job. They are excellent machines. I had mine for close to 10 years and had few problems with it. In fact, I think it was the best combine I ever had from a repair cost stand point. I ran a 2 row wide cornhead and a 13 foot platform for soybeans. They are 70 horsepower machines.

They are very narrow so be careful with narrow row corn heads and don't get one too top heavy turning on its side. Made 1970-76, 59 bushel bin, 13-15ft platform header, 22 x 28.7" cylinder, gas or diesel, 219 diesel engine, 57 hp.

Dad had one years ago. They bought it new in '73 with a 2-row wide corn head and 13ft. platform. Gas engine was a disadvantage as was not having the rotary air screen. He later added a love bar. The 4420 he traded for was an improvement but for your acreage you should be fine. Its still a Deere and parts are reasonable and readily available.
