I have a IH Cub with a woods Belly-Mower.Should the deck be level, front lower or back lower.I had heard that the front should be lower for more HP in cutting ?

Thanks,Scott

Scott, The front should be just slightly lower then the back. Measure the blades, front and back, not just the deck housing. (The blades may or may not be parallel to the housing). When the mower is set lower in the front, it will require less HP to run, as the blades only have to cut once in the front half of the circle and can "free turn" on the back half of the circle. If the back is lower, the blades cut once in the front half and again "shorter" in the back half, or will cut continious all the way around the circle. Look at the "new" mulching type lawn mowers, almost twice the HP (6+) as conventional discharge type mowers (3HP).
