I recently purchased a Ford 4000 and now I am looking for a brush hog. A local dealer has a 6 ft Howser for $750 with 75 hp gear box. The price seems reasonable, but I don't anything about the Howser brand. Can anybody tell me if they make good quality brush hogs and are parts fairly easy to locate? Also, if somebody could recommend a different brand in the same price range it would be helpful. Thanks

like the others said, in a word howse is CHEAP. buy a good brand like bush hog or rhino and they will last a lot longer. not a big difference in price when you compare quality.

That's a little high compared to the price here in SE Tex. The 6' was from $575 to $625 around here last year.

That Howse is'nt a very good mower. I have 2 of them, but the reason I have them is that I screwed up and got them in on another deal. The gearbox is weak no matter the hp rating, and the steel will disentegrate off of it after the 1st year or so, and the bottom seal is continually going out. International, Hi-Co and FMC are'nt much better.

In the lower priced mowers the best one I've used is a Modern brand. It's made out of the same cheap steel, but it's heavier and last longer, not much longer but some.

Heck I never put it together. They sell them under both names at the same dealers here. Live and learn I guess. Thanks for the info.

I HOPE I'M NOT TOO LATE!

BUSH HOG MAKES A CUTTER FOR A GOOD PRICE A WITH TOP SERVICE.

WHAT DO PLAN TO CUT? THIS WILL DETERMINE THE CLASS OF CUTTER TO BUY. HOWSER IS A CHEAP THROW AWAY MACHINE.

IF YOU PLAN ON CUTTING GRASS ONLY, BUSH HOG OFFERS A 7' DOUBLE SPINDLE UNIT THAT WILL WORK ON YOUR 4000, BUT IT JUST DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH YOU PLAN TO CUT AND HOW MUCH TIME YOU WANT TO SPEND ON THE TRACTOR SEAT.
