I am restoring a Deering horsedrawn mower that has "ideal giant" on the tool box cover. All I know about it is that Deering was bought out by McCormick in 1902 so it must be at least 100 years old.

According to ENCYCLOPEDIA OF AMERICAN FARM IMPLEMENTS & ANTIQUES, CH Wendel, the Deering Co., Chicago, Ill offered the Ideal Giant starting in 1885. The picture of the mower from a 1920's catalog shows a red axle, blue sickle bar, blue seat, blue exterior on wheels with yellow interior. However I believe someone posted a message here saying that blue was not used until..? Check the archives.
This is a wonderful book and easily obtainable. I would recommend it.
