Hi Bill, These were usually called "leaning-wheel" roadgraders because they had the ability to lean the wheels into the blade load. The Adams Company originally made horse-drawn graders and then modified the design to be pulled by the early John Deere "D" and the early Cat Crawlers. If I'm not mistaken, they were still in business in the '60s making diesel powered graders. The early ones came in several sizes. I've seen a No.3(kinda small) and a No.10(kinda big). Asking prices on them seem to vary. I found an excellent one in Ridgeway, Colorado for $300, but it wouldn't fit on top of the Ford Fiesta that I was driving on that trip. Looked at another in northern Ohio that was junk, and the owner said $1000, firm. I hope he still has it. I have a friend in SE Indiana who got one with the farm he bought, uses it to keep the farm roads in condition, pulls it with a Ford 801, loves it and won't even talk about selling it. If you find two, holler, I'd love to have one. Good Luck! Jogg

I don't blame him for not wanting to part with that grader. I have an Adams 2C leaning wheel grader on cut down rubber. My dad paid $37.00 for it at an auction long ago. We have a 1/2 mile dirt lane, and my wife pulls it with my D Case and I ride the grader. It has also graded building lots and built a banked, 1/8 mile Gocart track. I certainly wouln't part with it. The self propelled Adams (actually J.D. Adams & Co.) used IH diesel power units. I think they were built up till the 60s

I found one, a "road Patrol". Paid 150$ for it. Spent another $150 to restore it. It is not leaning wheel. Would really like to get more info about the CO that built it. Thanks for your help.
