Recently restore and I am having a hard time finding seed plates. The dealer wants $30 each & tractor junk yards don't have any with plates.

if this planter is like my 4 row 352 ford planter ,then it can use john deere plates . and most seed companies have some around . or you can get a stack at an auction cheap ! good luck !

I have tried seed stores all around me. All I've found was John Deere plates. I've heard my planter is very rare, is it?

Lots of 309 planters around here. I have one myself. Plates are hard to find, might end up buying new, even though they're expensive. The later model Fords may have used JD plates. 309 will not (I have JD plates, too and they don't fit).

Plates are hard to find. You are not kidding, all the feed stores I've checked have alot of John Deere plates, but no Ford plates. New plates are $30.00 per plate, that's rediculuos. I don't that kind of money to spend. What about your 325 4-row, would the plates from that fit a 309? Just curious.
