I have a fifteen foot Hardee bush hog that is awful heavy on drawbar in fact, the factory hitch was eating the hole and end off my drawbar. Here is how I cured this problem if anyone is interested,I took a pential hitch and put it on the bushhog and welded the ring to a piece of 3/4 plate and bolted to drawbar, when unhookin I raise center deck upunlatch hitch and put legs down all the way sometime I put a rock or board under legs then let center deck down and the pental hitch just lifts right off, very easy to hook and hook up with out a big hassle. thought some of you guys might have the same problem. Why did you decide to put the ring on the drawbar and the pintle hitch on the implement? Seems to me it would have been better the other way around. If you wanted to, you could pull a large trailer which may already have a ring or on another implement it would be cheaper to buy a ring as compared to the pintle hitch? Not arguing , just trying to understand the benefit(s)

I put the pintle hitch on hog for two reasons, one the way the tounge is constructed on Hardee bush hogs,I threaded pintle hitch and put a nut on it and bolte it right back up like the factory had it. second with ring on drawbar you don't run into clearance problems with drive shaft, also there is another important reason, with the pintle hitch upside downit makes it easy to hook up and unhook, raise center deck all the way up ,drop hog jacks then let center deck down an pintle hich lifts right off tractor, also when hooking up back ring under pintle hitch hook up hydraulic hoses and lift center deck and pintle hitch latches in to ring raise hog jacks and let center deck down and your hooked up and close saftey latch on bottom of pintle hook. I was a little concerned with backing up but I've had it in some bad places and works fine.I don't see how it could work any slicker. I use to have a time hooking it up plus eating my drawbar up. I beleive the Hardee Engineers were asleep when they designed the hitch, other than that it 's one tough machine.Later Gman
