Golden Jubilee as a plow horse...

I have a Golden with a two bottom plow. The plow is rusty and will be cleaned before trying to use. My problem is, where to hook the high bar. There are three holes. The guy I bought the tractor from said to throw the "equalizer" switch under the seat. This will let the plow "float" and find it own best level. I think there is some pattern as to which hole you use to get the right effect, but I'm not sure.
When I have tried to use the plow, it just seemed to either skim the surface or dig in so much that the tractor stopped. The sod I am plowing has, to my knowledge, never been plowed. Any help will be appreciated.

Use the bottom hole of the top link bracket for heavy-draft loads like plowing. Use the top hole for light-draft loads like sickle mowing. The top link should measure 26" from center hole to center hole, although it may need to be a bit longer to keep the plow running level front to back. Keep nice sharp shares on the plow to get good "suck". Use your adjusting crank on the right lift arm to run the plow level laterally. Don't forget, you still have to use the lift lever to regulate how deep you want to plow. If you drop the lever all the way, the plow will try to dig as deep as it can. Usually half-way is good.
