By reading this forum over time, I've compiled a list of bush hogs I would consider buying. In 6' models, John Deere, Woods, Rhino, and Bush Hog are all models that sound good. I left King Kutter off because someone told me there were problems with it, but couldn't give any details. I just happened to look at one yesterday at a dealer's and it looked very sturdy, maybe even beefier than the borrowed JD 603 I've been using. Anyone know of problems with KK or have anything good to say about them?

Thanks, guys, for the comments. You've helped me make up my mind. I WAS looking for used equipment but now have to decided to buy a new King Kutter. BTW, I also looked at LandPride, but the dealer wanted $2200.00 for one ($400.00 more than JD). Thanks again. I love this forum.

I've had a King Kutter finish mower and a rotary mower (brush hog type) for a couple of years now. If they were sold by weight, the KK would be considered one of the sturdiest. When I originally went to buy a used one, I found beat up models of every brand....people really abuse these things. I decided I'd rather buy a new one, and take care of it, than buy someone elses junk..... I'd buy a KK again in a heartbeat. Keep in mind though that I pull a 5 footer with a 2N Ford, that doesn't really have enough powr to hurt it. many of the beat up ones I saw wer pulled by 50 plus HP tractors.....so instead of the engine bogging down, parts just broke or bent.....

Good Luck
Steve

I just bought a 5' King Kutter. It is very rugged for the price and it does a nice job on brush up to 2 inch...it even took down a 3-4 inch pine...once :) I plan on really putting it to the test in a couple of months. Have to clear about 1 acre of jungle before next Spring...replacing with pasture. I'll let you know if it breaks!

I use a 6' 3pt King Kutter. No problem with deck or clutch. The wheel was re-welded a couple of days a go. The original spot weld failed. This is our second season with this cutter. Cuts good but not as smooth as a 30 yr old hog we have at the house. Good cutter for the price.
