I just boght a King Kutter 5ft. brush hog. first my MF50 only lifts it enough for the brush hogs back wheel comes off the ground, is this right and if so how do you get underneath the hog to change or sharpen the blades being it's so heavy.

with the postion handle all the way up pull the draft control handle up, if it raises more the draft control needs work. that what my 35(same lift sys) did before it jammed and wouldn'tr go back down with the tractor running. hope it's just a toplink unscrewed to far. good luck

How's it lift other heavy implements? You may need work on your pump etc. I believe when you are mowing, the top-link should be adjusted so that the back of the hog deck is 1"-2" higher off the ground than the front. The wheel should lightly or occasionally touch the ground. Maybe someone else can tell us better. Be careful.

I agree with burrhead. I use a 6' King Kutter on a MF 135. Shorten toplink, disconnect pto and definitly block the hog up. I use red oak blocks. Be careful.

Please, please don't rely on the lift to service your blades.

Take the pto shaft off so it does'nt hit when you raise the hog, shorten the center link til it's as short as possible, then raise the mower and block it up with something solid like cross ties or heavy concrete blocks.

One of our local school ag shop teachers was killed 2-3 years ago by relying on the hydraulics to work under his bushhog. The hog came down across his chest&stomach and he was suffocated from the weight. He was one of the most safety minded folks I have ever seen.

Remember you can be safe as many times as need be, but you only get to be killed once.

I gotta agree with Burrhead, never get yourself into a position where a burst hydraulic hose can kill or maim you. Always SECURELY block anything supported by hydraulics before you get under it.

Right about the safety issues. I usually jack up the cutter and place axle stands on the four corners while attatched to the tractor. That way, as long as the tractor is in park, the cutter can't slide off the stands
