After pulling my dad's swather out of the weeds and greasing it, everything looks okay but I can't figure out how to lower the sickle bar head to a cutting level. What am I missing?

i recently bought this swather. both the big springs that support the header were broken. now that i have replaced the springs, how do i set them so the cutting bar runs correctly?

Look around the lift cylinder to see if there is any sort of transport lock that keeps the head from lowering. Most New Holland and JD machines have some sort of way to lock them up so that they don't accidentally lower on the road. My guess is Hesston is no different. These locks also allow the cylinder to be removed for use on other machines, while keeping the swather transportable without it.
