The last few years I had lots of bales that were bannana shaped. I had sharpened my plunger knives with a hand grinder. This year I removed both knives and sharpened them on a belt sander, man are they sharp. Did that ever make a difference, no bannana bales this year. Just thought I would share that with you.

Hey Fudd. I have that problem too, will definitely try it. I know my knives are dull. Also have to do some very fine tuning on my "cranks" in the back to get it even.

Fudd, Good info to have. I don't have a 14T, but I'm thinking about one, but the price seems a little high. He's asking $450. , would probably take $400.Has't been used in 3 years and was not cleaned up after last use. What would one be worth in your area?
Tim

Prices here, assuming in excellent condition: 14T- $400 (chute) 24T- $1000 (add $250 if equipped with #30 ejector) 336- $3000 (with #30 ejector) 327- $4000 (with #30 ejector, add $500 if equipped with #40 ejector) 328- $6000 (with #40 ejector. Haven't seen any used ones with #42 ejector offered yet.)

I agree with B.C. That sounds a little high. If you do get it be sure to get the operators and parts manual. It seems every other year I have to tinker with things on the knotters, otherwise it seems like a really good baler. Good luck.

Years ago when I paid 225 for mine a former Deere mechanic later said I'd stolen it. But it too had sat around for a year or two without being cleaned out and in general it looked like it had been through at least a couple demo derbies. Turned out it worked fine, at least for putting up a few hundred bales of horse hay every summer.

If it's straight and the needles haven't been brazed or welded etc then it's probably worth 350 or 400. I got 325 for mine when I sold it, but I threw in a new spare set of needles and the manuals with it. On anything like that, it depends on what time of year its selling and who's buying.

You could look around for something cheaper, but parts ain't cheap if needs 'em.
