Spent 2 days trying to bale 1.5 acres with the NH Super 66. Not even finding a $1000 bill taped to the undercarriage will keep this beast at my farm next year. But I have come across a JD 24T that a local guy bought new 20 years ago or so, and when I say it hasn't baled over 200 bales I'm not kidding. It has been up on blocks for the past 19. The paint is perfect and still has nubs on the tires. Before i make an offer, what would be a reasonable price?

you can get most parts for 24t baler at the dealers .I replaced a complete knotter asby. on my 24t 3 years ago i paid 600.00 for baler 8 yrs ago the knotter cost close to 650.00 A 1000.00 would be a good price.

I know exactly where you are comming from. I had an old McCormick 47 baler that gave lots of problems every year. I ended up buying a 24t that looked pretty ruff but I took a chance on it and I am proud I did. I had to do some work to it and replace some worn parts but it bales great now. I'm going to detail it and paint it this fall. Square baler prices seems to vary drastically depending on where you are in the U.S. I paid $1200 for mine in east Tenn. I don't know where you live but around here square balers seem to be making a come back. If I were you and the one you are looking at is in that good of shape I would go as much as $2000. PS. I think the 24t's were built up until the early to mid 70's.

A 24t is more than 20 years old

I saw a rather beat 24T go for 900 at an auction in central Ohio last spring. It was probably worth most of that since the knotters, pickup and the important stuff looked decent.

I wouldn't be afraid to start offering about 300 and would expect to go up a ways from there. Would walk away if it got much over 900.

Around eastern Iowa $600 will buy a 24T in working order assuming normal wear and tear. $1000 - $1200 for the baler you describe would be a bargain. For the few acres you have, it should last a lifetime.

Look at Tim(nj)'s post under Hey 14T guys below. I think those are close, depends on where you are located. Sounds like a good deal if the price is right. You can call JD and still get the manuals for it. Good luck.
